The size of an EFI System Partition (ESP) typically depends on the operating system and the requirements of the system, but there are some general guidelines:

Common EFI Partition Sizes:

  • Minimum Size: The EFI specification requires a minimum size of 100 MB for the EFI System Partition. However, this is just the absolute minimum, and it might not be sufficient depending on the system and OS.

  • Recommended Size: A more commonly used and recommended size is 200 MB to 500 MB. This allows for sufficient room to store bootloader files, EFI applications, and other necessary files without running out of space.

  • Large Systems (e.g., multi-boot configurations): If you plan to have multiple operating systems that all use the EFI partition (e.g., dual-booting with Windows and Linux), you might need a larger EFI partition—500 MB to 1 GB is not uncommon in these cases.
