This tutorial focuses on setting up an Intel NUC computer from scratch to configure it for use with our Locobot platforms. Specifically, it describes how to install the RAM card and SSD into the computer. Then, it outlines how to install Ubuntu Linux 20.04 on the NUC and configure the kernel to default to 5.4 instead of 5.8. The last step is necessary since the RealSense software is not yet supported on kernel 5.8. Note that Ubuntu Linux 20.04 was chosen as it is the latest LTS version which works with ROS Noetic and Python 3 out of the box.

 

Note: The video above is for reference only. All computers on our Locobot platforms already come pre-configured with the necessary changes.
