单复数同形词

仅是拼写相同。

如 \(\text{sheep, deer (鹿), fish (同种类时单复数同形；不同种类复数为 fishes), aircraft (飞机), species, cattle (牛)}\)。

集合名词

形单意单/复

\(\text{family, team, crew (船上全体工作人员), class, audience, committee, government.}\)

当视为整体时，谓语动词用单数；当强调个体时，用复数。

\[\begin{aligned} & \text{The family is large.} \\ & \text{The family are doctors.} \end{aligned} \]

形单意复

\(\text{police (表警方，警察部门时), people, cattle}.\)
这类名词若用集合名词时，总表示复数，因为根本翻不出单数的含义？。

集合名词指形单意复的一类用法。但不代表这些形单意复的名词只能这么用了。\(\text{many families}.\)
