My May Day Experience

During the May Day holiday, I didn't go home but chose to stay in Nanchang to be a volunteer for the canoeing competition. It was a novel and interesting experience that made my holiday very fulfilling.

When I first arrived at the competition venue, the vast water surface and the beautiful garden scenery made me unable to believe that I was in Yaohu Lake. Because Yaohu Lake is in the suburbs and has poor infrastructure, this place is really delightful. My job was to be a doping control escort, which, to put it simply, was like being a spy. After the leader gave the order to check a certain athlete, I had to identify that person at the dock. As soon as he got ashore, I would notify him. From then on, I had to accompany and observe him throughout to see if he had any abnormal behavior until he reached the testing station smoothly. I was a bit nervous on my first mission, fearing that I might make a mistake, but the athletes were all very polite and understanding, which made me feel much more at ease. Our work wasn't too strenuous, so I had spare time to watch the competition. It could be called a holiday that combined work and rest.
