Reflective Journal II: My Experience in Creating a Digital Story
Creating a digital story was both challenging and rewarding. As a first-year student, I explored new skills, faced unexpected obstacles, and discovered the joy of blending creativity with technology.
The project began with brainstorming ideas for the story. I struggled to find a unique angle until I decided to focus on a personal memory about friendship. Next, scripting required balancing dialogue and descriptions. The biggest challenge was gathering media—finding suitable images and recording clear voiceovers took longer than expected. During editing, syncing audio with visuals was frustrating, but watching tutorials helped me master the software.
I worked with two classmates. We divided tasks: one handled scriptwriting, another focused on media collection, and I took charge of editing.For tools, my partnee used Deepseek for scripting, which allowed us to co - edit in real - time. For media gathering, she relied on Doubao for images. I used Jianying for video editing, which provided a wide range of features for cutting, merging, and adding effects to our digital story.
Compared to traditional writing assignments, the digital storytelling project was more difficult. In traditional writing, it's all about words on a page. But in digital storytelling, I could bring my words to life with images, sounds, and videos.
Buti in the process,I improved technical skills like video editing and audio generation. My writing became more concise, and using AI tools taught me to balance automation with creativity.
In the future creations,I will apply multimedia integration and collaborative strategies to future projects. Learning to accept feedback gracefully is another lesson I’ll carry forward.
