My May Day Journey
During the May Day holiday, I returned to my hometown, Longnan. This time, I decided to make the trip more memorable by riding bikes with my younger brother and mom. Our destination was our old family home, and the journey was about fifty kilometers long.
We set off early in the morning, excited and a bit nervous about the long ride. The roads were lined with beautiful scenery. We passed through small villages, where chickens wandered around and dogs barked at us playfully. The fields were full of green crops, and the air was filled with the scent of fresh earth.
Along the way, we stopped at a riverside. We took a break, enjoyed some snacks, and dipped our feet in the cool water. My brother and I splashed around, laughing and feeling like kids again. Our mom sat on a rock, watching us with a smile.
After a few hours, we finally arrived at our old home. It looked just as I remembered it, with the same old wooden gate and the garden my grandma used to tend. We spent the rest of the day reminiscing and sharing stories from the past.
This journey was more than just a trip; it was a chance to reconnect with my family and my roots. It was a perfect way to spend the May Day holiday, and I will always cherish these moments.
