The Boy Who Cried Wolf

I'm a shepherd boy, and I herd sheep on the mountain every day. At first, I thought this job was so boring. Every day, what I faced were just a group of sheep that could only bleat, as well as endless grasslands and mountains.

One day, looking at the empty surroundings, a funny idea suddenly popped into my mind. I shouted at the top of my lungs, "Wolf! Wolf!" The farmers at the foot of the mountain heard my shouts and rushed up the mountain in a hurry, carrying hoes and carrying poles. When they ran up panting, they found that there was no wolf at all, only me laughing there. The farmers were very angry, but I thought it was so much fun. Their expressions were really hilarious.

A few days later, I got bored again and wanted to play this game once more. So, I shouted again, "Wolf! Wolf! Help!" The farmers took it seriously again, put down their work, and quickly ran up the mountain to help me. But when they saw that I was teasing them again, they were extremely angry. An old grandpa among them said to me seriously, "Son, lying is wrong. Don't do this again next time!" I agreed verbally, but I didn't take it to heart.

A few more days passed. One day, when I was herding sheep on the mountain, suddenly, a big gray wolf really appeared! It opened its huge, blood - red mouth, and its eyes glowed fiercely. The sheep were so scared that they ran around in all directions. I was extremely frightened and shouted, "Wolf! Wolf! Everyone, come and save me!" However, when the farmers at the foot of the mountain heard my shouts, they thought I was lying again and ignored me.

Watching the big gray wolf approaching step by step, I was so scared that I started to cry. I thought: If I hadn't lied before, everyone would surely come to help me now. Many sheep were bitten to death, and I regretted what I had done before.

After this incident, I realized I was wrong and swore that I would never lie again. Because lying not only makes others stop trusting you, but it can also bring danger to yourself.
