Notes about PVE setup

1. PVE 安装后，需要启动QEMU Guest Agent 选项以支持通过Host PVE 对下辖的KVM执行开关机命令操作

In Proxmox VE, the qemu-guest-agent is used for mainly two things:

  • To properly shutdown the guest, instead of relying on ACPI commands or windows policies
  • To freeze the guest file system when making a backup (on windows, use the volume shadow copy service VSS).
  • 必须在HOST和Slave 都启动qemu-guest-agent 
  • 安装后必须重启生效

2. PVE 安装虚拟机后启动出现GRUB 引导错误，无法启动

-if you have an empty slot, move /boot to a small disk directly attached to the MB if possible. the bug will trigger randomly if any of the files needed to boot a certain kernel image is beyond a certain offset in the disk - so each rewrite of the initrd/kernel images or grub files is a risk.

  • 磁盘分区最好保证/boot 所在位置的offset 不超过1T，可行办法是采用/home /var独立的逻辑卷分区
