SEE 05 Software cost metrics & control

Software cost metrics & control

5.1 Software Cost Metrics

Software development cost measurement should be
conducted at the following time points:

  • Requirement completion
  • Design completed
  • Coding completed
  • Completion of internal testing
  • After the project is completed
  • At the time point when software sizing must be performed

5.2 Analysis of Software Cost

  • Cost composition
  • Cost estimation deviation
Earned Value Analysis (EVA) can be used to measure and analyze cost estimation deviations.
  • Regression of cost estimation equation and analysis of key
    influencing factors of cost

5.3 EVA method in software cost M & C

Basic parameters of earned value analysis method:

  • Planned Value (PV)
  • Actual Cost (AC)
  • Earned Value (EV)

evaluation indicators:

  • Schedule Deviation (SV) = EV – PV
  • Cost Deviation (CV) = EV – AC
  • Cost Execution Index (CPI) = EV/AC
  • Progress Performance Indicators (SPI) = EV/PV
