Cause and prerequisites

No planning file entry is created if the planned order is moved into the opening period. The material is excluded from the next materials planning with MD01 and transaction code NETCH.

Solution

Use transaction MD15 to convert planned orders into purchase requisitions. Execute transaction MD15 regularly to convert all planned orders within the opening period. Synchronize the length of the opening period with the frequency in which you execute transaction MD15.

Alternatively, you can use the MRP type 'Time-phased MRP'. In this case, the material is planned after every change relevant to MRP and additionally at the dates defined by the planning cycle. Synchronize the opening period with the length of the planning cycle.

The problem stated in issue * is not due to missing planning file entries.
 
System is working as per standard.
 
Consider following example to make this clear.
 
1. Requirement arrives for the material 29* ( may be from another plant / reservation from production/projects ..etc). At this stage planning file entry is created.
2. During daily MRP job - only those materials are considered which are in the planning file. So above material is considered - 29*.
3. MRP created planned order - as in MRP group we have mention - "Create PR in opening period".
4. After creation of planned order - net requirement is fullfilled - hence planning file entry is deleted.
5. Now MRP controller has time to check this & convert to PR if required.
6. Now opening period arives - there is no planning file entry as there are no new requirements.
7. Daily MRP job will not consider above material
