Zabbix-01-Introduction
1. Introduction

1.1 zabbix
zabbix is a WEB-based interface to provide distributed system monitoring and network monitoring capabilities of the enterprise open source solutions.
zabbix can monitor various network parameters to ensure the safe operation of the server system ; and provides a flexible notification mechanism to allow system administrators to quickly locate/resolve various problems .
zabbix consists of two parts , zabbix server and optional components zabbix agent.
The zabbix server provides monitoring of remote server/network status and data collection through SNMP, zabbix agent, ping, port monitoring, etc. It can run on Linux, Ubuntu, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Free BSD, Open BSD, OS X and other platforms. It can run on Linux, Ubuntu, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Free BSD, Open BSD, OS X, etc.
The zabbix agent needs to be installed on the target server to be monitored, and it mainly collects hardware information or information about the operating system such as memory and CPU.
The zabbix server can monitor the service status of the remote server alone; it can also work with the zabbix agent to poll the zabbix agent to actively receive monitoring data (agent method) and passively receive data sent by the zabbix agent (trapping method).
In addition, zabbix server supports SNMP (v1,v2) and can be used with SNMP software (e.g., net-snmp).
