A young woman and her father arrived in New York City by bus. After getting off, they went straight to the office of a big investment company, without making an appointment.
一位年轻女子和她的父亲乘巴士抵达纽约市。下车后，他们径直前往一家大型投资公司的办公室，并未提前预约。

They were stopped by the receptionist and asked to wait. The receptionist thought they would leave after waiting, but they didn't. Finally , the receptionist told the manager.
接待员拦下他们并要求等候。接待员以为等久了他们就会离开，但他们没有。最终接待员通知了经理。

Soon , the manager came over with a doubtful look. The young woman spoke up, “ My father and I have created a new investment plan that works really well, We want to show it to your company."
很快，经理带着怀疑的表情走过来。年轻女子开口道："我和父亲设计了一套非常有效的新投资方案，想向贵公司展示。"

The manager was not impressed, “ Young lady," he said, “ we get many ideas like this every week.If we listened to all of them, we would never finish our work ,” “Oh, we're not asking you to invest in us,"the young woman corrected him.“We just want to work together and help your company grow."
经理不以为然："小姐，"他说，"我们每周都会收到很多类似提案。如果每个都听取，工作永远做不完。""哦，我们不是要您投资我们，"年轻女子纠正道，"只是想合作助力贵公司发展。"

The manager raised an eyebrow and replied, “Do you have any idea how much we spend on research every year? It's millions of dollars. ”
经理挑眉回应："知道我们每年在研发上投入多少吗？是数百万美元。"

For a moment, the young woman was quiet, The manager felt relieved thinking they would leave.
年轻女子沉默片刻。经理以为他们会知难而退。

But then , she turned to her father and said , “ Maybe we should start our own company, What do you think?" Her father nodded.
但她转头对父亲说："也许我们该自己开公司，您觉得呢？"父亲点头赞同。

Even though their idea was tuned down , they decided to start their own successful investment company , which later became a big competitor to the one that dismissed them.
尽管创意遭到拒绝，他们仍决定创办自己的投资公司，后来这家企业竟成为当初拒绝他们的强劲竞争对手。
