A tree can go hungry when it needs food to grow and it likes sugar very much. It's not the same sugar in candies ,but a special kind called glucose(葡萄糖) that makes trees grow.

 

一棵树在需要食物生长时会感到饥饿，它非常喜欢糖。不过这种糖并非糖果里的糖，而是一种叫做葡萄糖的特殊糖分，能让树木生长。

 

Tree make their sugar in their leaves. The sugar in the leaves then is spread into all other parts of the tree. This kind of sugar is made in a process called photosynthesis(光合作用).

树木在叶子里制造糖分。叶子里的糖随后会输送到树木的其他所有部位。这种糖是通过光合作用的过程产生的。

 

Photosynthesis happens when a tree uses sunlight and chlorophyll (叶绿索) to turn CO, and water into glucose. This glucose is the food that a tree needs when it grows.

当树木利用阳光和叶绿素将二氧化碳和水转化为葡萄糖时，就会发生光合作用。这种葡萄糖正是树木生长所需的食物。

 

When the leaves are turning green, we know the tree is eating But it isn't the glucose that makes the leaves green. It is the chlorophyll.

当叶子变绿时，我们知道树正在进食。但让叶子呈现绿色的并不是葡萄糖，而是叶绿素。

 

In spring and summer, trees grow the most because they can take in enough sunshine.

 

 

在春季和夏季，树木生长最旺盛，因为它们能吸收充足的阳光。

 

Days become shorter and there is less sun when autumn comes, This makes a tree
realize it's time to get ready for winter, The leaves begin to turn red, orange and gold because there is less sunlight and water for photosynthesis and the green chlorophyll is about to disappear.

秋天来临时，白昼变短，阳光减少。这让树木意识到该为冬天做准备了。由于光合作用所需的阳光和水分减少，绿色的叶绿素即将消失，叶子开始变成红色、橙色和金色。

 

As winter is coming,the tree has enough food to keep when it is still warm, and passes the season in a resting state, just like bears do! The only different between them is that bears get into a cave and lie down to rest, while trees lose their leaves and stand up to fall asleep.



随着冬季临近，树木会在天气尚暖时储存充足的食物，像熊一样进入休眠状态度过这个季节！它们唯一的区别在于：熊会钻进洞穴躺下休息，而树木则会脱落树叶，站着入睡。
