Mr.Thompson was my history teacher in high school. I first met him in the tenth grade, during
my first history class. He had a deep voice and a serious demeanour that made me a little nervous at first. But despite his stern appearance , he left a lasting impact on me.

Mr, Thompson often asked us challenging questions." He wanted to know our thoughts on historical events and their relevance today, At first, I was hesitant to speak up, fearing that my answers might be wrong, But over time, I began to share my opinions, His belief in my potential encouraged me and I gradually gained confidence in my own ideas.

Mr.Thompson's favourite saying was,“ History is not just about the past; it's aboutunder standing the present. " This motivated me to look at history not just as a collection of dates and facts, but as a tool for understanding the world around me. I started to take risks in my thinking exploring ideas I would have previously dismissed.

By the end of the year, I had changed completely. I was no longer afraid to voice my thoughts inclass and I even took part in a debate competition where I presented historical arguments with conviction(坚定的信念). That experience solidified my passion for history and I knew I wanted to pursue it further.

Being in Mr. Thompson's class changed me. I not only learned about history but also about myself. He taught me the importance of critical thinking and the courage to express my ideas. Mr.Thompson was more than just a teacher; he was a mentor who helped shape the person I am today.
