A young man , while roaming the desert, came across a clear river, The water was very sweet.

The young man filled his leather container with it so that he could bring some water to his teacher.

After a four-day journey, he presented the water to the teacher who took a deep drink, smiled and thanked his student for the sweet water. The young man retured to his village with great satisfaction.

Later , the teacher let another student taste the water, The student said it tasted awful. The water had become smelly because of the old leather container.
Then the student challenged his teacher, “ Why did you pretend to like it?”

The teacher replied, “ You only tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of kindness and nothing could be better. "

I think we understand this lesson best when we receive an innocent gift from a kid or a loyal friend. Whether it's a plastic plate or a chocolate ring, we feel warm from the bottom of our hearts because we love the idea with the gift.

However many people only value the things given rather than the emotion embodied (体现)in it, which is a worrying sign.

After all , gifts from the heart are really gifts of the heart.

 

一位年轻人在沙漠中穿行时，偶然发现了一条清澈的河流，河水甘甜无比。

他用皮囊盛满清水，想带回去给老师尝尝。

经过四天的跋涉，他将水献给老师。老师畅饮一口，露出微笑，感谢学生带来的甘泉。年轻人心满意足地返回了村庄。

后来，老师让另一位学生品尝这水。学生却说水已发臭——原来皮囊陈旧，水质早已变质。学生不解地质问："您为何假装喜欢？"

老师答道："你尝到的只是水，而我品味的是心意。这清水不过盛装善意的容器，世间再无比这更珍贵的馈赠。"

我想，当收到孩子纯真的礼物或挚友真心的馈赠时，我们最能体会这个道理。无论是塑料小碟还是巧克力指环，那份心意总会让我们心底涌起暖流。

可悲的是，越来越多人只看重礼物本身，却忽视了其中蕴含的情谊，这实在令人忧心。

毕竟，发自内心的礼物，才是真正的无价之宝。
