Project leader skills
By searching the Internet and investigating some person who work as project leaders in their company,especially in software developing field,finally,as following we can make a conclusion about the skills and qualities a project leader should have:
1、 communication skill
As a project leader,he have to deal with all kinds of person,so as a basic skills,good communication ability is needed. Both the skills of language and the way you talk to others are included.
2、 Estimating skill
A leader in the group have to overlook the whole project,he must evaluate some unexpected risks, and also have to estimate the time the project may cost, a specific schedule is very important.
3、 Learning skills
When a new project is coming, most times nobody in the group can be very familiar with it. So at the moment, project leader have to learn it in a very short time, and have a good understanding about it. Then he can make a plan or effective schedule for the whole group. And then the assignments can be arranged.
4、 Social skills
The relationship between group leader and the members usually are friends rather than colleagues. A good leader he must know everybody in his group very well, which member should do what kinds of work, and how long he need to finish that work. In order to have a good communication with his member he has to know the member’s characteristic. Etc. In a word, if you want to be a good leader, social skill are essential.
5、 Personal skills
Specifically, personal skills in this passage are the skills on his major. To be a leader, he must make everyone trust him and be sure that he is the only right person worth his salt. So, personal skills are extremely important for project leader.
At that last, I have to say that all of above are just my views, to be a good leader , those are not enough, but I think without them you cannot be a good project leader.
