Categorial Grammars

These notes offer a brief glimpse at categorial grammars. They serve only to introduce a few of the concepts upon which the categorial grammars are based.

The presentation of these concepts here follows the approach to categorial grammars introduced and developed principally by Mark Steedman and his colleagues and students. Draft versions of many of his articles are available from Mark Steedman's home page at http://www.cogsci.ed.ac.uk/~steedman/ by following the Recent Papers link. The references cited in these papers provide sources of further information about categorial grammars and their history.
