Final Reflection On Digital Stories

Final Reflection On Digital Stories

Looking back on the experience of creating these two personal digital stories, I feel I have gained a lot. Whether in digital writing or mastering digital technologies, I have made significant progress.

During the creative process, I realized that materials are crucial—they serve as the foundation of a digital story. Without sufficient materials, there would be no content to create. Therefore, accumulating materials in the early stage is essential. The first digital story was about May Day, when I worked as a kayaking volunteer. Fortunately, I took a large number of photos, which prevented the story from feeling rigid. These photos became an important part of my digital story. Through editing, I made the story more vivid. I added appropriate background music, dubbed the audio, and included subtitles, so even if there were pronunciation errors, others could understand the content. Mixing pictures and videos diversified the story, making it more appealing.

Meanwhile, my emotions fluctuated greatly during creation. When making the May Day story, I recalled the scenes of volunteering with others and the two main teachers who led us. Whenever I think of this experience, I feel nostalgic. It not only helped me make more friends but also exercised me, making me more proactive and bold. For the Dragon Boat Festival story, the production process reminded me of good old days, revisiting childhood memories and evoking strong emotions. Recalling happy times included both joyful and sad moments. It was difficult to express such mixed feelings of nostalgia and sadness through a digital story, as I couldn’t fully convey the depth of my emotions.

My sense of pleasure grew day by day during creation. Making digital stories allowed me to engage with new things, which was also a learning process. For example, I used to know little about video editing and dubbing, but creating digital stories gave me the opportunity to master these skills, greatly enhancing my abilities. Completing a full digital story also brought a strong sense of achievement—I never thought I could create such a story. Combining facts with narration improves the vividness and authenticity of the narrative. Learning new presentation methods added joy and motivated me to expand my creative skills.

In conclusion, creating digital stories is a rewarding process. Not only can you learn how to present your experiences to others, but you can also acquire digital technologies like editing, cutting, dubbing, and scoring. I believe creating digital stories is a truly interesting endeavor.
