A High Performance Data Switch for Enterprise Applications
Oracle's Sun Datacenter InfiniBand Switch 36 binds Oracle's Sun Blade and Sun Fire servers and storage systems into a highly scalable, space-efficient 36-node cluster. It can also be used as a leaf switch in larger InfiniBand fabrics. Its low cost and low-latency Quad Data Rate (QDR) performance are a boost for clustered databases, data warehousing, high performance computing (HPC), converged datacenter fabrics and high performance storage.

Key Applications

  • Clustered databases
  • Converged datacenter fabrics
  • Commercial HPC compute clusters
  • High performance storage
  • Data Warehouse
  • A self-contained, multi-purpose 36-node, QDR InfiniBand switch fabric solution in 1RU for clustered databases, high performance computing (HPC), high performance storage, and converged datacenter fabrics
  • Joins the Sun Datacenter InfiniBand Switch 648 in Oracle's third-generation family of InfiniBand switches
  • Flexibility and scalability to support multiple usage models, down to the department
  • Redundant power and cooling for high availability in demanding environments
  • Building block for hierarchical fabric topologies supporting larger clusters of Sun Blade or Sun Fire servers and storage systems
  • Embedded InfiniBand management module enabled for redundant fabric management
  • Enables high-performance fabrics to be deployed in demanding High Availability (HA) environments
  • Supports advanced features for traffic isolation and Quality of Service (QoS) management, preventing faults from causing costly service disruptions
  • 1RU form factor
  • 36 ports supporting QDR/dual rate (DDR)/single data rate (SDR) IB
  • Embedded management module for InfiniBand fabric management
  • Data throughput: 2.3Tb/sec
  • Port-to-port latency: 100 ns QDR
