My favorite English movie clip is the one in which Truman finally leaves Seahaven in The Truman Show.
In the last scene, he says the sentence that runs through the whole movie: in case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!This clip uses direct gaze and close shot to reveal Truman's emotion. He talked with a smile, showing his joy that he can escape from control and be able to return to the real world. Although Truman look up and say this. I think this high angel shot doesn't mean Truman is a weak man.On the contrary, his dialogue with "heaven" proves his strength. He said this sentence easily, which he had said a thousand times before. This is his most false performance, but it is also the most sincere response to a curtain call.This not only reflects Truman's courage, but also his attitude towards life.
