copula 与一般动词的区别

copula ：  a type of verb that connects the subject of a sentence to its complement, for example 'seem' in the sentence 'the house seem big'

complement中文翻译是补语，是补充说明subject用的，属于subject的一部分，或者说是subject的某一性质。

与一般的object的不同。object和subject是对抗的关系。object作动词是 提出...作为反对的理由 与 反对；拒绝的意思

 

另外copula与couple是同源词，进一步可以联想 subject and its complement 是 a couple,所以它们之间的联系动词叫 copula
