This Dragon Boat Festival, I spent an exceptionally memorable time with two close friends. It began with a gathering at a restaurant. As we stepped inside, the festive atmosphere surrounded us, and we eagerly ordered delicious dishes. During the meal, we shared recent anecdotes and hilarious stories, fully enjoying the warm and cozy dining moment.
After the meal, eager for a creative activity, we headed to a handicraft store to make cookies. Upon entering, shelves filled with baking supplies and adorable cookie cutters immediately caught our eye. We selected some uniquely shaped cutters, including those in the form of cute little animals. Nearby, several children were focused on making small cakes, their works delicate and appealing—no doubt they would taste wonderful.
Next, the cookie-making process began. After the staff mixed the ingredients, we took over to knead the dough. The dough seemed to have a mind of its own, slippery and stubborn in our hands, refusing to come together. My friends and I exchanged glances, seeing beads of sweat on each other’s foreheads but determined smiles on our faces. It took us ages to finally tame the dough into submission.
The cutting and shaping stage was even more eventful. I carefully pressed a cutter into the dough, hoping for a perfect animal shape, but when I tried to demould, the dough clung to the cutter like a playful child refusing to let go. My friends had no better luck—one shape fell apart as soon as they moved it. We burst into laughter at the sight of our "disasters," flour dusted on our faces.
Through repeated failures and attempts, we gradually mastered the knack. When the cookies were finally baked and emerged from the oven, their inviting aroma filled the air. Sitting together, we savored our homemade cookies, overwhelmed with a sense of achievement.
