A Joyful May Day at Bairu Spring

On the early morning of May Day, the air was filled with an uncontrollable sense of excitement. The sun poked its head out from among the clouds and cast a warm and cozy glow. My mother, my sister, and I set off with great enthusiasm on the journey to Bairu Spring.![](https://img2024.cnblogs.com/blog/3617304/202505/3617304-20250510192648401-1378513387.jpg)

As soon as we arrived at Bairu Spring, a large expanse of lush greenery surrounded us. As the renowned "the Seventh Spring under Heaven", this place used to be a wonder where nature and culture blended together. Unfortunately, the spring water no longer flows now. However, by looking through the poems and articles left by ancient scholars, we can still imagine its former glory. It is said that in the seventh year of the Yuanyou era in the Song Dynasty, the great poet Su Dongpo, accompanied by his sons Su Dai and Su Guo, passed by here on their way from Henan to Hangzhou. When they saw the spring water as white as milk, they found it so peculiar that they named it "Bairu Spring" and praised it as "the Seventh Spring under Heaven".![](https://img2024.cnblogs.com/blog/3617304/202505/3617304-20250510192622468-2131013997.jpg)

We carefully searched for the best shooting spots by the spring, using the blooming flowers and ancient trees as the backdrop, and posed in various ways. Each time the shutter clicked, it captured moments filled with our laughter and happiness.
While strolling around, we happened to meet several local elders. They warmly chatted with us and shared many stories about the origin of the spring. It turned out that people from generation to generation have cherished Bairu Spring not only because of its unique natural scenery but also because of the numerous touching legends surrounding it. For example, the white turtle beside the Bairu Spring.Long ago, Old Man Gong(宫), who owned a pomegranate orchard near Bairu Spring, traded his donkey to rescue a stolen baby white turtle. To repay him, during a severe drought, the baby turtle's father, an exiled night - patrolling turtle from the East Sea Dragon Palace, led his family to move stones, revealing a spring that revived the orchard. Having been cast out for a misdeed, the old turtle knew the underground route to the East Sea, explaining how the water source was discovered.Listening to their stories, I felt as if I had traveled through time and developed a deeper emotional connection to this place and its long history.![](https://img2024.cnblogs.com/blog/3617304/202505/3617304-20250510193307120-608281293.jpg)

As night fell, we sat under an ancient big tree, recollecting every bit of this day, and our hearts were truly fulfilled. This trip to Bairu Spring on May Day was not just a simple outing; it was a precious family time. It made me love nature even more and also made me understand that every moment spent with my family is a wonderful memory worthy of being treasured for a lifetime.
