The Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival, falling on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, is a traditional Chinese festival with a history of over 2,000 years.
On the Origin of Dragon Boat Festival, the most widely spread legend links it to Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet of the Chu State during the Warring States Period. After he drowned in the Miluo River on this day, locals threw rice dumplings into the water to prevent fish from eating his body, and rowed boats to scare away the aquatic beasts. This also evolved into the custom of eating rice dumplings and racing dragon boats.
