Revenge
On a peaceful noon, I was sitting by the hospital bed, on which lay my sister, wrapped in bandages all over and on the verge of death. Sunlight shines in through the window, but I don't feel warm. I stared at my sister on the hospital bed. How energetic she used to be! She was like the little sun of our family, bringing us joy. She always wore a smile on her face.
But her kindness was mistakenly regarded as weakness by a group of her peers. At first, they only spoke harshly to her when they saw her. But when they saw that my sister didn't resist, they became even more aggressive. After that, they began to spread rumors about my sister. For a time, rumors spread everywhere and no one was willing to play with her. Then they began to resort to physical violence. They locked her in the toilet, put dead mouse in her table and poured water into her food while she was eating. My sister began to resist, but what she got was even more serious bullying. She has always been a very sensible child and has never mentioned to us that she was bullied. Ultimately, she chose to suicide by jumping off a building on a quiet noon. Fortunately, she didn't die because she was rescued in time.
After knowing what she had suffered, my heart was full of anger. I asked for the perpetrators to be punished, but the school reversed the matter on the grounds of "insufficient evidence". Those who do violence are confident that they will not be punished, and they have no regret. I knew if I wanted them to be punished, I had to do it by myself.
In the next few years, I devoted myself to two things: my own growth and collecting evidence. I went to law school, determined to understand the legal system thoroughly. But knowledge is not enough. I need to find other people who were bullied by them.
Through social media and personal interviews, I began to contact my sister’s classmates . At first, many people were afraid to speak out for fear of reprisal. But I didn't give up. Slowly, they began to believe in me and were willing to tell their own story. I spent countless hours listening to their stories and recording their testimony. Every story makes me very sad, and it also makes me realize that I am fighting for the victims.
As time passed, the bullies graduated from high school and began their college life. I waited patiently for the opportunity. Finally, when the last person came of age, I finally had a chance. I filed charges against them. The trial was long and hard. They tried to deny everything, but the evidence was very accurate. Other victims told the jury about their pain. In the end, justice was done. They were also sentenced to varying degrees of imprisonment. And this is only a small price to pay for the pain and harm they cause.
While the pain experienced by my sister will not go away, it is comforting to know that they have all paid a corresponding price. I stood outside the courthouse, the sun was shining on me, and I felt warmer than I had ever felt before.
