buck

A buck is an adult male in some animal species including deer; see List of animal names. Derby shoes are nicknamed "bucks" for the common use of buckskin in their making. Men's Derby shoes are shoes that are cut low or around the ankle with quarters that come together on the vamp [鞋面前部]. For Derbies, the lacing is "open". The eyelets are placed on two sections sewn onto the vamp, so that the front part of these sections is free, making them easier to put on. This makes Derby shoes a more comfortable option than Oxfords.
