Summary about UI for business application
Today, I read a post about UI in business application:
User Interface Design for Business Applications from Rich Newman
Here is the summary:
1. MDI: Access 2003

2. SDI: Word, Notepad, IE6

3. TDI(Basic Tabbed Document Interface): Firefox

4. Montage Tabbed Interfaces- 'IDE-style' interfaces,
Tabbed format, but with surrounding property and window management panes:
SQL Server 2005 Management Studio

5. Integrated Development Environment Interfaces: VS2005

6. Montage Interfaces without Tabs: Outlook

Every collapsible pane in left task panes can be a separate module if we use Microsoft CAB.
The author suggests that for businnes application, the last UI style is a good start point.
