1.Choosing the winner for this year's Oscar best-picture award essentially comes down to an optimist vs. pessimist mentality – in other words, do you see an abundance of good movies during this awards season, or do you see the absence of a truly great one?     

 

遴选今年奥斯卡最佳电影，归根结底是乐观主义心态和悲观主义心态的对抗，换句话说，在今年颁奖季，你看到的是一大堆好电影的登场，还是一部真正的杰作的缺席？ 

 

2.Historically, by this stage in the so-called awards season, support has appeared to coalesce around a couple of films. And "Three Billboards," which also won the Golden Globe for best drama, would appear to have seized the pole position. 

 

按照往年的情况来看，人们所称的颁奖季到了目前这一阶段，似乎应该有一些电影已经成为了人们支持的热门。今年，获得了金球奖最佳剧情片的电影《三块广告牌》似乎占据着先发地位，获奖呼声很高。 

 

3.Several other movies likely to receive an Oscar award when they're unveiled come with their own handicaps. "Get Out" and "The Shape of Water," for example, both have a foot in the horror genre, which is not historically one that academy voters have favored.

4.The Oscar nominations will only settle the guessing games about who is likely to win on March 4, and as the Hollywood Reporter noted, "there's still a lot of time for the winds to change."
