OE必用词take

English language is a highly-idomatic language with thousands of two or three-word phrases that have meanings quite different from the meaning of the same words used individually.

A:For new arrivals like us, there are plenty of difficulties to get through.

B:That's for sure. Like getting used to the new environment and having to correct our broken English.

A:And so many times of feeling mixed up about which way to turn.

B:Actually, I don't know which way to turn when I can't find a job. You know, I had really count on making out well.

A:It won't be easy, but I'm going to make it. Take my word, we'll have it made with our perseverance and determination. We should set our sights on a bright future. Let's get going.

B:Great. You've got what it takes.

A:Well, I've been out there all day long pounding the pavement, dropping off my resume at every office I could find.

B:And how do you think you made out?

A:Actually, at first I thought I didn't have a chance. There seemed to be tons of applicants for every job!

B:And then?

A:Remember that computer analyst ad I checked out in yesterday's paper? Well, I stopped in at the personnel office, and the manager seemed to like what I had to offer.

B:What did he say?

A:Well, all I know right now is that he's interested in me, but I'll find out more tomorrow when I go in for an interview.

B:An interview? That's great! Just give it all you've got, and I'm sure you'll have it made!

A:I plan on going in there and giving it my best shot.

B:I think they'll realize that you catch on quickly. They'll be impressed with you, I'm sure. You've picked up good English, you've committed essential English words to memory ... You'll have it made. You're a real go-getter.

A:That, we both are! And we do plan to get ahead in life!
