SSD和MDD在人格特征、神经生化特征、和基因表达等方面存在显著异质性，提示它们不属于同一谱系疾病，应作为独立的精神障碍予以治疗。

Significant heterogeneity between SSD and MDD in personality
traits, neurobiochemical characteristics,and gene
expression suggests that they do not belong to the same
spectrum of disease and should therefore be treated as
independent mental disorders.
