My May Day Journey

May Day this year was unexpectedly filled with joy and warmth as I attended my uncle's wedding.
Early in the morning, we gathered at the bridegroom's home. The air was thick with excitement. When the bride and groom arrived, one of my uncles set off a firecracker. The "BOOM" shattered the morning tranquility, making everyone jump in surprise, and the acrid smell of gunpowder filled the air.
Later, we headed to the hotel for lunch. As soon as we entered, a wave of festivity hit us. The lobby was a riot of colors, with red ribbons and balloons everywhere. Several weddings were taking place simultaneously. The chatter of people, the clinking of glasses, and the melodious wedding march blended into a lively symphony. The dishes served were a feast for the senses. The aroma of roasted duck, steamed fish, and stir - fried vegetables wafted through the air, making my mouth water. But a little boy's behavior impacted the otherwise perfect meal. Whenever a delicious dish was served, he'd quickly scoop most of it into his bowl without a care for others, a stark contrast to the joyous occasion.
Amidst the merriment, the host organized a "guess the song" game. I eagerly joined in. The moment I correctly identified a tune, a sense of triumph washed over me as I received a small but precious gift. Meanwhile, my grandpa was engrossed in chatting with relatives, his face beaming with happiness.
After the wedding, due to a shortage of vehicles, grandpa and I had to walk home. The sun was blazing in the afternoon sky, as if directly overhead. The heat was oppressive, and sweat trickled down my back. Every step seemed a struggle. Just when I was on the verge of exhaustion, my dad's car came into sight. What a relief!
This May Day wedding was more than just a celebration. It deepened my connection with my extended family, reminding me of the importance of togetherness. Amidst the chaos and joy, I witnessed the power of family bonds. As for my uncle and his bride, I sincerely wish them a lifetime of love, happiness, and shared dreams.
