Reflection on Creating Digital Stories

The Process & Challenges
Creating the last two digital stories involved brainstorming ideas, scripting narratives, gathering media (images, audio), and editing with tools. The biggest challenge was aligning visuals with the story’s tone—I overcame this by refining my script first and then carefully selecting media. I used AI tools like Deepseek for grammar checks and Doubao for generating images, which saved time but required tweaks to match my vision.

Writing Enjoyment
Initially, I felt anxious about the technical aspects but curious about storytelling. A turning point was during editing—frustration turned to pride when scenes finally clicked. I prefer individual projects for creative control but miss collaborative brainstorming. Surprisingly, I enjoyed scripting dialogue and visualizing scenes, which felt more dynamic than traditional writing.

Writing Growth Mindset
I improved multimodal literacy (balancing text/media), editing precision, and AI tool adaptability. These skills will help in future projects, especially when integrating technology creatively.

Writing Self-Efficacy
My confidence was low initially due to limited tech experience, but the workshop boosted it significantly. Feedback and small successes (e.g., smooth edits) reinforced my belief in my abilities.

Key Takeaways & Suggestions
I learned to merge writing with digital tools, embrace iterative editing, and leverage AI thoughtfully. For future workshops, more examples of strong digital stories would be helpful. Overall, this experience expanded my creative toolkit and confidence in digital storytelling.
