Introduction of RAS

The Report Application Server (RAS) is a service that allows you to develop applications to generate reports. This service allows the reports to be rendered on another server, taking the processing load off of the web server.
The version of the RAS that comes with the Crystal Enterprise XI Embedded Edition is a stand-alone service and does not require the full Crystal Enterprise suite to run.

This software is called unmanaged RAS because the reports that the application accesses are in a folder on the hard drive of the RAS and not in the Crystal Enterprise repository.
