Celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in Nanchang with my good friends
The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival full of culture and joy. This year, my friends and I were thriled to celebrate it in Nanchang.
In the morning, we visited the famous Tengwang Pavilion by the Gan River. Its ancient architecture was really cool. Inside, we saw old inscriptions and pretty paintings on the walls. We could imagine scholars from long ago writing poems there. From the top, the view was amazing. The river flowed slowly and the modern city buildings stood tall nearby. There was no denying that Tengwang Pavilion is a rewarding place. Not noly does it broaden our horizons, but it also teaches us knowledge about poems. In addition, its rich culture can help to foster a sense of cultural or national identity.
As the sun started to set, we went to a popular restaurant. The moment we walked in, we smelled the delicious grilled meat. The restaurant was noisy and lively. We sat down and quickly ordered. The lamb skewers, marinated with special spices, were the best. We also got vegetable skewers. While waiting, we talked about our day at the pavilion. When the food came, the lamb was perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside. We toasted with iced tea to the festival. This was a very unforgettable moment. I was overwhelmed by a sense of pleasure.
After eating, we walked back to the dormitory. The night air felt nice and it was rainy. Someone suggested singing, so we sang all kinds of songs, not caring if others felt strange or funny. As we walked, we saw shops decorated with colorful Dragon Boat Festival decorations.
Just before reaching the dorm, we passed the school reataurant. We remembered the traditional zongzi and went in. Luckily, there were various and numerous dumplings. All of us bought one.
The zongzi was still warm, and as we unwrapped it, a sweet, fragrant smell wafted up. The combination of the soft, glutinous rice, the sweet and smooth red bean paste, and the chewy, slightly tangy jujubes was a match made in heaven. Holding the zongzi in our hands, we felt a deep sense of contentment. It wasn't just a delicious treat. It was also a tangible connection to the rich traditions and cultural significance of the Dragon Boat Festival.
This Dragon Boat Festival in Nanchang wasn't just about having fun and eating good food. It helped us understand our cultural heritage better and made us realize how important it is to keep these traditions alive while enjoying time with friends. This experience was unforgettable. It was no exaggeration to utter that this experience was like a permanent flower, blooming in the river of my memory.
