  1. introduction:We are introduced to the narrator, a pliot, and his ideas about grown-ups.
  • Word:
    • narrator: n.旁白、讲述者
    • pilot: n.飞行员 (exploit vt:开发,剥削 n.英勇的行为)
  • Phrases & Collocations:
    be introduced to stb./sth. 被介绍了stb./sth. 这里“are introduced to”有一个中英思维的差异,英文是“接受者视角” 而中文是“介绍者视角”。理解的抓手是搞清楚介绍的方向,主体(we)←(被动地接触)←客体(the narrator and his ideas),不要被这个to诱导到。
  • Syntax & Grammar:
    • 这里是一个一般现在时的被动语态,还省略了动作的引导者(by)。
    • a pliot是一个the narrator的同位语

    prey: n.猎物 v.捕食

  • are (not) able to: (没)有能力做
  • through adv.通过,完全地 adj.直达的 prep.直通,贯穿
  • thought v.想(think 的过去式)
  • ponder v.沉思 ponder over 强调的是一种更深入、更专注、更认真的思考,通常涉及需要仔细权衡的问题。
