Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2003 on Windows2000
Error Message: Automation server can't create object
After you install Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2003 on Windows 2000 operating system, even if you have,
1. completed the installation of prerequisite CD, and
2. updated the Windows2000 through Microsoft online WindowsUpdate service,
you may still have problem when you create a project with Project Wizard.
In that case, there will be an error message after you finished all the configurations in wizard pages and press the Finish button to let the VS.NET 2003 to generate the source files for you:
Error: Automation server can't create object
To solve the problem, you have to update the Windows Script to version 5.6 up, more information you may found in Microsoft Knowledge Base, article No. 323885.

It's quite interesting to ask why the VS.NET 2003 installation doesn't include such essential update in its "prerequisite CD".

SYMPTOMS
When you display the Start Page, or when you use any wizards in Visual Studio .NET (including when you create a new project or add classes), you receive the following error message:
Automation server can't create object
CAUSE
This behavior may be caused by a corrupted Windows Script component.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, download and install the latest Windows Script. To do this, visit the following MSDN Web site:
