Reflection on Creating Elsa's Digital Story

Creating this digital story from Elsa’s perspective felt like stepping into a snowstorm—both exhilarating and bewildering. When I first began, I wasn’t sure how to translate her inner turmoil into words, let alone use AI tools to refine them. But by the end, the process became a journey of self-discovery, blending creativity with technology in ways I’d never imagined.

My biggest challenge was capturing Elsa’s voice authentically. How do you convey the guilt of hurting Anna or the loneliness of her ice castle without sounding melodramatic? I utilized AI tools to suggest more vivid imagery, like "the silence was deafening, and each knock was like a hammer to my heart." The AI helped rephrase clunky sentences but sometimes over-polished the rawness. For example, early AI drafts made Elsa sound too objective, so I manually added visceral details—"the pain in her eyes was like a knife to my heart"—to ground her emotions.Tools like ChatGPT acted like a co-writer, sparking ideas when I was stuck (eg, visualizing the "frost-covered windows" scene). However, dividing the work required balance: AI handled technical fluency; I safeguarded the story’s emotional core.

There was a thrill in typing "My parents died on the way to seek the solution to my magic" and watching the AI expand it into a haunting moment of grief.
