* We use can to talk about abilites. We use could to talk a bout abilities in the past. Could is also used in polite requests.
- I can speak Spanish very well
- She could play the violin when she was three.
- Could you open the door, please?
* You can use be able to with the present,past,future,present perfect and as an infinitive
- I am able to accept your invitation.
-They weren't able to come.
- I'll be able to practice my English in the US.
- She has been able to speak French since she was a child.
- I'd like to be able to ski.

B: Yes. Although the fire spread quickly, everybody was able to escape
A: Did you have difficulty finding Ann's house?
