Maybe which media/Press should be chose is not too important. Because a specific current event would be reported by many different media organizations. Read these related news with varied perspectives would help form a broader vision about one event. And recently my friend recommend to me a software which could automaticly subscribe related news about one specific event. So, maybe we could choose two or three events per week to practice. Sunddenly, I am not sure whether I have the capability to handle this writting task. :-)

About that company, Futex, you could call them and suggest them to evaluate you through other channels, such as video interview, online test, instead of physical presence if they do take job candidates seriously. Anyway, avtiveness is alway right, try it! (though I doubt they would).
