Blog 5: Your Vision of Leadership
If I am a leader, then I hope I will become a Pacesetter and Democratic leadership style. As its name implies, leaders are the benchmark for doing things. The advantage of this Pacesetter leadership style is that it can achieve high efficiency and greatly improve performance in a short period of time, because we will have good working methods and goals(Indeed Editorial Team 2021). If the ability of the team members is outstanding, then the performance of our whole team will grow very fast, because we have clear goals and a better way of operation, so high efficiency is expected. Democratic leadership is willing to spend time with team members to build trust in a democratic way(Braden Becker 2020). I will care more about employees' sense of participation, more about their suggestions and their role in decision-making. In decision-making, I prefer to adopt a democratic way and widely solicit the ideas and opinions of employees. Through the combination of various suggestions and opinions, we can reach a consensus. I will make employees feel their own value, and it is easier for them to have a sense of participation, and it is easier for them to build trust in each other in this team. But at the same time, Pacesetter and Democratic leadership colleagues have some disadvantages. The defect of the Democratic type is that it will certainly affect the efficiency. In order to reach a consensus, the company has to discuss many times, hold endless meetings on some issues, and it is difficult to form a decision in the end. Especially when Democratic leaders lack judgment ability and employees' ability is limited, our execution efficiency will be very low. At this time, we need to apply Pacesetter leadership. Pacesetter style suitable for the use of the scene requires that employees have a relatively strong ability to work independently, they have the ability to work spontaneously, and their personal ability is also very strong, do not need a lot of guidance and coordination, as long as the leaders set good standards and general goals, they can do this thing by themselves. But it also has disadvantages, because the requirements of Pacesetter leaders are very high, so once the behavior of employees can not meet the requirements of leaders, it is difficult for them to be recognized by leaders. Therefore, on the one hand, the pressure of employees will be very high, and the morale of employees will often decline. On the other hand, Pacesetter leaders do not trust employees. The work becomes very task oriented, and leaders supervise the implementation process with high goals and high standards. At this time, as a team manager, we need to make decisions in a democratic way, so that everyone can make decisions and make judgments on the cultural connotation we share. Only in this way can we feel that the decision-making is group participation, and we can implement it better. Because they have their own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, I will uphold the leadership of these two styles at the same time. Combine these two kinds of leadership to manage employees effectively. Sometimes it's worth looking forward. Due to my poor expression ability, I don't bother to explain a lot of times, and think that the explanation is redundant, but also a waste of time. It's better for me to seize the time to make one, and it's right. At the same time, I am willing to listen to other people's opinions and shortcomings, at the same time, I will actively reflect and give affirmation. So I think I'm very suitable for Pacesetter and democracy.
