The Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival is more than a traditional Chinese festival rich in history and culture; it’s also a time etched with cherished memories of my adventure in Nanchang with high school classmates.
During the festival, we explored Nanchang’s iconic spots. At the Tengwang Pavilion, we marveled at its ancient grandeur and enjoyed the panoramic view of the Gan River and the city’s blend of old and new architecture. Later, we visited Bayi Square, standing in awe before the Bayi Uprising Monument, feeling a deep connection to the revolutionary spirit. The festive air was thick with the scent of bamboo - wrapped zongzi sold by vendors. We bought some on the spot: some filled with savory pork, others with sweet red bean paste. Each bite was a burst of traditional flavor.
Food was a highlight of our trip. We indulged in local delicacies like spicy Nanchang - style fried rice noodles, full of rich flavor, and uniquely - shaped egg dumplings that delighted both our eyes and taste buds. Sitting around the table, sharing stories and laughter over these dishes, our bonds grew stronger.
This festival, commemorating Qu Yuan’s patriotism and integrity, mirrors our unity as friends. Our Nanchang adventure perfectly combined cultural exploration, delicious food, and precious friendship, leaving me with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for our heritage.
