Reflecting on My Digital Story Journey

Creating two individual digital stories was a profound learning experience. The process involved brainstorming themes, drafting scripts, sourcing media, and editing using tools like Canva and Clipchamp. Major challenges included structuring the narrative cohesively and managing time; I overcame these by breaking tasks into smaller steps and seeking peer feedback. I used AI tools like Grammarly for grammar checks and Leonardo AI for generating specific visual ideas, saving significant time on editing and concept visualization.
Initially, I felt anxious about the technical aspects and storytelling quality. However, this anxiety turned into enjoyment during scripting and visualizing scenes—discovering how words could transform into multimodal narratives was surprisingly fulfilling. While collaborative projects offer diverse ideas, I preferred individual work for the creative freedom and personal accountability it provided.
My skills grew substantially: I improved technical editing, multimodal literacy, and AI integration into writing. My confidence as a digital storyteller also increased, moving from initial doubt to pride in the final products. Key takeaways include the power of revision and using technology purposefully to enhance expression. For future workshops, perhaps more time for peer review would be beneficial. Overall, this journey significantly boosted my writing self-efficacy and creative problem-solving skills.
