Reflective Journal
Our group decided to retell the story The Emperor’s New Clothes from the emperor’s point of view. My first draft was short and written from first person of speech, but my teammates liked the idea. However, they said the story needed more details. To improve it, we divided the work into three parts: rewriting the story, making a video, and adding sounds into the video. Since I created the original idea, I was responsible for making the story longer and better.
At first, I changed the story from first person of speech to third person of speech. This helped me add more descriptions about the emperor’s thoughts, feelings, and actions. For example, I wrote about how he ignored people’s opinions and pretended to be confident. But even after adding these details, the story still felt flat. I felt stuck. Then, I used DeepSeek, an AI tool, to check grammar mistakes and get suggestions. DeepSeek told me to add a scene where the emperor orders louder music to hide his doubts. This idea made the story much stronger! I felt excited because it showed the emperor’s foolishness clearly.
Working with my group was important. We share ideas with our social media. One teammate made the video using pictures and scenes that matched the story. Another teammate added background music and sounds. Tools like Jianying and Doubao helped them a lot. For me, DeepSeek was the most useful tool because it fixed my grammar and gave useful tips.
At the beginning, I wasn’t excited or nervous—just calm. But when my first draft didn’t work well, I felt frustrated. Changing to third person of speech and using DeepSeek’s advice made me curious and happy again. Compared to normal writing, this project was more fun because I could mix words, sounds, and pictures. I especially enjoyed imagining the emperor’s proud face and silly actions.
This project taught me many skills. I learned how to use AI tools for writing, make stories more detailed, and work with others on creative tasks. In the future, I will use these skills to write better stories and try new tools.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I could do a good job because I had little experience with digital stories. But after fixing the story step by step and seeing the final video, I felt more confident. Two moments made me proud: switching to third-person and adding the music scene. These successes showed me that even hard tasks can be done with patience and help from tools.
