Take a step forward bravely

It is a glorious day, in a lonesome village in the Loess Plateau, drive in a beautiful car suddenly. TO the villagers who can't hear the sound of machines year in and years out, this is a new matter. Everyone in the village leave the house and gather around the car, try to figure out what has happened.

Several persons get down the car, among them, a middle-aged man with short hair and in a gray jacket asked them:” Is any one of you want to film? Those who want stand out and enter the name.”

Though every one of the villagers had watched movies, but seldom of them know how and where to film. They was talking with others nearly by or themselves.

The man asked several times, no one answered. Then a teenage little girl taken a step forward and stand out: “ I want to film.” The little girl was not good-looking, with single-eyelid, small eyes, red cheek, breathed characteristic stubborn and unsophisticated of the children of the mountain.

“Can you sing?”, asked the middle-aged man.

“Yes”, answered the girl with ease.

“Sing a song for us now”.

“OK”, the girl start to sing and dance with no fear, “ Our motherland is a garden, the flowers inside are beautiful...”

The villagers started to laugh, because what she sing is really not so good, not only off the key, but also forgetting the words.

Surprised the others, the middle-aged man point at the the girl with his finger, and said in a firm voice: “ OK, you are the one!”

This middle-aged man is the famous movie director -- Zhang Yimou,and the girl who take a step forward bravely is the starring actress –- Wei Minzhi in the film “No one is left”.

Though Wei Mingzhi only take one step forward, but it changed her life. Her name was well know to the people all over the country rapidly.
