"With the globalization and modernization of the age, ......"
Many of articles or news would prefer this as its opening. But what's the reality of globalization to an ordinary person like me?Hi, there. This is Jack from Shanghai. Today, I would talk about the globalization in my mind and around my life.
I am a university student for the time being. I was born and lived in this city for about 20 years.
Believe it or not, globalization really happens in my life if I think about this question.
I step into graduate school last September. But for some of my high school friends, many of them chose to study abroad to further their studies. Thanks to their stay abroad like USA, Britain, German, etc, I have the chance to know about the daily life in other countries. Several weeks ago, I decided to reuse my facebook ID again, for I could have a look at my friends' daily life by fb.
Since the freshman year, I have been getting to know more and more exchange friends from school. Goku from Turkey, Alexand Megan from USA, Uncle John from USA, etc. As a native Shanghainese, I would always be glad to show my foreign friends around this city. Through chat and hangout, gradually, I have a good understanding of cultural diff erences as well as some common characteristics. Foreign students are more independent, and thoughtful, they always wish to speak out their own ideas. While Chinese students are shier, apparently, but with very hospitality and sincerity. Foreign friends usually like to hangout with a big group of people such as 10 persons, while Chinese students usually prefer to stay alone. Even speaking of hangout, the number would usually no more than 3 persons. Foreign friends likes puns and make jokes, while Chinese students likes people with skills more, such as people with excellent spoken English, or people with best grades.
Differences like that are a lot. But don't be confused. I don't mean which is better, each side has their own advantages. And the chance to get to know the difference is a really good experiences for me.
In thegraduation year, I took a joint graduation project with 2 exchange students from USA. Plus exchange students in other groups, I stayed with 12 American friends for nearly 2 months, worked together in every workday. And hangout together. It was a really unforgettable precious memories in my life. From the stay with them, I could understand much better the way of their thinking, both culturally, and as a friend with same age as well.
So now you csn tell, globalization really does some influences in my life.
Thank you.
