web mixed content 问题
Browser Settings: Display Mixed Content with Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Firefox
Systems, Browsers, Pearson content blocked
Three symptoms indicate when a browser is blocking Pearson content due to its mixed content controls:
- The Browser Tune-up test does not show all of the required plug-ins.
- Content will not load; it shows a blank page in the lesson player.
- Text-to-speech will not play audio content in a lesson.
Solution:
This issue is caused by the browser preventing the display of mixed content, which is secure (https) and unsecure (http). Change the browser settings to allow mixed content by following the instructions for your browser type.
Google Chrome
Chrome version 21 or later blocks mixed content by default. It does not provide a message to the users, so they may not know that the content is being blocked by the browser. The block appears at the page level, so you may need to unblock pages more than once while working on different content pages.
The indicator for mixed content is a shield icon that appears only in the far right of the address bar. There are no other pop-ups or visual clues that Chrome is blocking content, so keep an eye out for this silent icon.
To allow mixed content in Google Chrome:
- Click the shield icon in the far right of the address bar.
- In the pop-up window, click Load anyway or Load unsafe script (depending on your Chrome version).
Note: The steps to "load anyway" must be completed for each page where the icon or message appears.
To set your Chrome browser to ALWAYS allow mixed content:
Caution: If using this option, Chrome will no longer check for unsecured content of every webpage (not just the Pearson product you are using).
- In an open Chrome browser, press Ctrl+Shift+Q on your keyboard to force close Chrome. Chrome must be fully closed before the next steps.
- Right-click the Google Chrome desktop icon (or Start Menu link).
- Select Properties.
- At the end of the existing information in the Target field, add: " --allow-running-insecure-content" (There is a space before the first dash.)
- Click OK.
- Open Chrome and try to launch the content that was blocked earlier. It should work now.
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer blocks mixed content by default. It provides a pop-up message that appears for only a short time, so you may need to refresh the page if you miss unblocking content. This browser blocks mixed content at the page level, so you may need to unblock pages more than once while working on different content pages.
To allow mixed content in Internet Explorer 9 or later:
- Internet Explorer 9 or later displays a pop-up message at the bottom of the page when a mixed content block is triggered.
- Click Show all content when it appears.
To allow mixed content in Internet Explorer 8 or earlier:
- Earlier versions of Internet Explorer display a different message.
- When it appears, click No so that Internet Explorer delivers both content types on the page.
- In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options.
- Select the Security tab.
- Click the Internet zone icon.
Note: If you have Trusted zone defined and the Pearson URLs are in this zone, select the Trusted zone instead. - Click the Custom Level button.
- Scroll down the settings list to Miscellaneous. Select Enable for Display mixed content instead of Prompt.
- Click Yes.
- Click Apply and OK.
- Restart Internet Explorer.
Firefox
Firefox blocks mixed content by default. It does not provide a message to the users, so they may not know that the content is being blocked by the browser. In addition, the block appears at the page level, so you may need to unblock pages more than once while working on different content pages.
The Firefox indicator for mixed content is a shield icon in the far left of the address bar.
To allow mixed content in Firefox:
- Click the shield icon.
- In the pop-up window, change the option to Disable Protection on This Page.
* Safari
Safari does not block mixed content like other browsers do and this should not be an issue.Trending Articles
