predict, forecast与foresee的区别（转）

predict, forecast与foresee三个单词都有“预言、预测”，但侧重点不同。

predict 普遍使用于各种场合，侧重从已知的事实情况推导，对事情的后果所作的一种精确的统计性估计。（= say or estimate that (a specified thing) will happen in the future）意为“预言、预测、预卜”。

According to the latest findings, earthquake can be predicted more accurately.

根据最新的发现，地震可以更精确地预告〔报〕。

forecast 与predict一样也可在各种不同的场合使用，是对事态的可能进程，或未来状况的预估。还可用来指预报天气。（= estimate of future events, especially coming weather or a financial trend）意为“预报，预测（天气、财经等）”

Weather conditions are forecast every day over radio and TV. 每天在广播及电视上预报天气状况。

foresee是表明展望未来的另一方面，它试图推断或猜想将来会怎样，而不是根据希望或设想的那样去想象一个结果。（= be aware of beforehand）意为“预知”

We could foresee no difficulties with these proposals. 我们预料这些提议将很容易实行。
