功能绝缘：导体之间功能性方面的绝缘。

功能绝缘仅足以确保电器适当操作，而位于不同电位之导电部件间的绝缘导体之间的绝缘，不提供防电击绝缘。

功能绝缘，一般需要满足以下条件，

1、 通过短路试验；

2、通过耐压试验。

3、爬电距离和电气间隙

基本绝缘，是指用于带电部分，提供防触电基本保护的绝缘。

附加绝缘，是为了在基本绝缘失效后提供防触电保护，而在基本绝缘以外另外的单独绝缘。
双重绝缘，是由基本绝缘和附加绝缘组合而成的绝缘。
加强绝缘，是用于带电部分的一种单一绝缘系统，其防触电保护等级相当于双重绝缘。

在结构上，基本绝缘置于带电部分上并直接与带电部分接触；附加绝缘靠近易触及的金属零件或是使用者易触及的部位。附加绝缘是为防止基本绝缘损坏而触电所增加的独*立绝缘。附加绝缘与基本绝缘的区别或对附加绝缘的要求就在此体现。附加绝缘不仅是耐压强度比基本绝缘要求高，并且其综合性能，尤其是使用寿命一定要比基本绝缘强或高。否则当基本绝缘寿命终了时，附加绝缘也寿终或者完结的更早，这就无法其到附加绝缘的作用。因此有22。32要求：橡胶必须是耐老化的；未 紧密烧结的陶瓷材料、类似材料或单独的绝缘珠，不应作为附加绝缘或加强绝缘使用。因为否则的话，这些材料都是易损和短寿的。这一点对于设计者必须十分注意。

NOTE It is not implied that the insulation is one homogeneous piece. The insulation may comprise several layers
which cannot be tested singly as supplementary insulation or basic insulation.
