美国西部时间1997年10月12日，乡村歌手约翰·丹佛驾驶小型私人飞机在美国西海岸坠毁身亡，这对歌迷来说不能不说是一大损失。Country Road（《乡村之路》）是其代表作。歌曲以对西佛吉尼亚故乡的怀念为主线，追念逝去的纯真岁月：歌手正行车乡间路上，从他所居住城市到另一座城市去，要穿过这一段山路。公路两旁熟悉的景物使他感觉仿佛又踏上回乡之旅，潜藏心间的乡情油然而生。
