Because these days I took almost all my time on studying Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server. Maybe this has nothing to do with programming or software architecture or OO methodology, but I think when you develop an enterprise application you should consider the network load balancing, the server performance, CPU performance, Memory performance and the Disk performance.

In this topic, I will discuss the Types of Network Load Balancing models. You can find this information from any Book about Computer Network. There are 4 Modes of Network Load Balancing, here they are:

  • Single network adapter in multicast mode
  • Single network adapter in unicast mode
  • Multiple network adapters in unicast mode
  • Multiple network adapters in multicast mode

They are used at different corporation or circumstance. Who can give a brief introduction about the differences between them? Such as:

Advantage

Disadvantage

Cost

Inter host communication

Handle heavy dedicated traffic
……

Just a discussion if you have interest or experience on it. Welcome any comments. Even it is “Please remove this article from homepage is welcome”J

Here is a small examination about this point, and you can have a try.

XYZ Company develops customized Web solutions and runs a Web site that is accessed by clients worldwide. The firm wants to implement Network Load Balancing. The hosts in the cluster should function with all routers. Which Network Load Balancing model should the company implement?
